EOR & Global Expansion

Center of Excellence

A Center of Excellence, or CoE, is a specialized team, often built in an offshore location, that concentrates deep expertise in a specific business function such as data science, quality assurance, design, or a particular engineering discipline. The purpose of a CoE is not just to execute tasks but to develop and standardize best practices, methodologies, and knowledge that benefit the broader organization, acting as an internal hub of specialized capability rather than a general staffing pool. Companies frequently locate a Center of Excellence in a country like India because it offers access to a large, skilled talent pool in fields such as software engineering, analytics, and finance, at a fraction of the cost of building the same capability domestically. A CoE differs from a general offshore team in that its mandate typically includes driving innovation, training, and process improvement, not just delivering day-to-day output. Building a Center of Excellence usually requires a company to either set up its own legal entity abroad or partner with an Employer of Record, which allows the company to hire and manage specialized talent compliantly without the overhead of establishing a foreign subsidiary.
