Single Sign-On

Single Sign-On, commonly abbreviated as SSO, is an authentication method that allows employees to log in a single time using one set of credentials to gain access to multiple connected applications and systems, rather than needing to separately enter a username and password for each individual tool they use throughout their workday. SSO significantly simplifies the login experience for employees while also providing meaningful security and administrative benefits for the organization. From a security perspective, SSO reduces the number of separate passwords employees need to manage, which can lower the risk of weak or reused passwords across different systems, and it gives IT teams a centralized point of control for managing user access. When an employee joins or leaves the company, administrators can grant or revoke access to all connected applications through the single SSO system, rather than needing to individually manage access across each separate tool. SSO has become particularly important for companies relying on numerous cloud-based software applications, since manually managing separate credentials across dozens of tools would be both inconvenient for employees and difficult for IT teams to secure effectively. For distributed or international teams, SSO also simplifies secure access regardless of where an employee is physically located when logging in to company systems.
