Global Talent Strategy
A global talent strategy is a company's long-term plan for sourcing, hiring, developing, and retaining skilled workers across international markets in order to support its broader business growth objectives. Unlike a purely domestic talent strategy, a global approach must account for differences in talent availability, compensation expectations, cultural norms, and employment regulations across the various countries where the company wants to build its workforce. Developing a global talent strategy typically starts with identifying which skills or roles the company needs and evaluating where in the world those skills are available at the right combination of quality and cost. This often leads companies to build teams in countries known for strong talent pools in specific fields, such as software engineering or data science, even if those countries are not the company's primary customer market. A key component of executing a global talent strategy is determining how the company will legally employ talent in each target country. Many companies incorporate Employer of Record partnerships into their global talent strategy specifically because it allows them to hire quickly in new markets without the delay of establishing their own legal entities, making the overall strategy far more agile and responsive to changing talent needs.
